Oooh, a touchy subject - the book challenge

Remember that we're decluttering and organising our home offices this month. Today your challenge is to declutter at least 5 books or magazines.

When I finish reading a book, I rate it out of 10. If the book is an 8 or higher, I may keep it.

Most of them get recycled to the secondhand bookshop so that my bookshelves always stay neat.

(if you don't want to post on the theme, go right ahead and post on whatever you felt like decluttering :)

Here is my contribution for this week...

3 packets of 3 books each... I find that they give me more money or credit for the books if there are smaller batches, so I take them back in threes.

Also, if you're wondering about the business card...most times the book buyer isn't there so this way it's easy for them to phone me back and tell me how much they'll give me. I'm all about making things easy!

I leave these packets in my launch pad so I can just grab and go when I run errands.

This week's challenge

Please link to the post on your blog where you show off your pictures and talk about what you decluttered. If you don't have a blog, tell me in the comments about
ANYTHING you decluttered this week.

It can be anything - physical, electronic, mental clutter or even the need to be a certain way. Like perfectionism! :)

It's funny that you brought up this topic....

I don't ever have any problem managing my own books. It's my kids books that I struggle with keeping dialed in. I spent a few hours (yes, I said hours) earlier this week sorting through my kids books to see if I can get rid of any. I know we had duplicates and some of the "baby" books can be donated or packed away (I like saving their favorites for their kids). It's really hard for me to part with children's books. I find that if I sort though them every now and then, get rid of a few. We also no longer BUY books (we get them as gifts) and we go to the library once a week.

Does it count that I have two large moving boxes in the basement, full of books, that I have marked for donation? I don't know if I could take the emotional stress of letting go of any more. Books. Wow. They rank right up there with kitchen stuff. Man, Marcia... you always make it difficult! Why can't we declutter garage stuff or cleaning supplies or old makeup? Ooo. I could even declutter my husband's 4 -count them- FOUR t-shirt drawers....!

I love books! I wish I could get paid to read. I would be a millionaire! I actually do a "swap" a lot at a book resale shop. Hope you have a great Valentines's Day!

Hi everyone

I love when I touch a sore spot – that means you’ve been blocking it out.

Anne

I’m not saying go crazy – I suggested just 5 books and you did two whole BOXES (I don’t even think I’m that strong) so well done.

Megan
I see this so often with my clients and kids’ artwork! The kids are like “whatever” but the moms want to keep their “babies’ handiwork”. So cute!

I love how you’ve set boundaries and how you get your books only as gifts and from the library.

I had a fabulous Valentine's, thank you. Did absolutely nothing and had a lovely romantic evening in ;)

Love that you also use a secondhand bookstore - they are great, aren't they?
